Ok....Is this for real?
R.I.P. Livejournal?
Not a whole lot of people post anymore('cept you bronwyn, loves ya). My friends list seems to be populated almost entirely by the same few people. Has facebook, really taken over? I hope not.
While it is effective as an re-connection tool for old friends, etc. I fail to see it's ability to update me in regards to the goings on the the lives of my friends.
I do have a facebook, yes. (and Cletus is my friend *swoon*) but seriously people...I'm way out here in Onterrible, give me a little something to go on. |

So, in order to commemorate the opening of the new GIANT LCBO down the street from me. I've decided to try some new beers and share my experiences and opinions.
Beer #1 Boris. Alsace, France
Category: Pale Lager

Boris, I think, is the beer of tiny French revolutionaires . Some dude with a flag shares the label with some text that reads "My values are those of a generation that has taken control of its existence and future".
Okay, so kind of over the top.
The beer is yellowy, almost orange, and clear. Moderately heady.
Tastes like: starts light, crisp, and clear. Ends like a train wreck.
You know how Heineken kinda tastes like ass? Well, so does Boris. It ends so bitter and sour it's just not pleasant. It's not as bad as Heineken, but it's still not entirely drinkable. I appreciate that one could possibly enjoy this with food, possibly, but as a solo drink? Not tasty and not appreciated.
I guess the French should stick to wine.

Ok, I just saw the trailer for Ghost rider.
I'm not fully up on my comics but I didn't think that Johnny Blaze, was a whiny 40-somthing douchebag. Nicholas Cage? huh?
He's like an old David Schwimmer.

ooooooooook. where was i? right.
Re: My life since the end of October (roughly)
I went home for Dave's wedding. The best word to descibe th whole affair? Efficient, probably. Nice service, very casual mid-afternoon recepion sans drinks/dancing. evening gathering w/ the murleys in hillview. Kim's grandmother is the one of the single most rediculous people (in a good way) i have ever met. Also, i almost kill Mark about 90 times for being Bossy McQueenypants the whole time he was home. I hang out at GNR's in the st. john's, have dinner with matthew, have a casual run-in w/Lauren/Kate, watch "The IT Crowd", Meet Richard's friend whats-her-face, and play a bunch of Guitar Hero (which is pretty fun). Also Steve was there at some point. All in all, pretty fun
Head to TO, drive from the airport into downtown (STRESS) and find parking (STRESS), See jill on a street corner. Go to costume thingy as "Jill circa Oct. 2005" w/ Jill, Eden, and roomates and Cahill. Meet D, Kick around TO. Have some pretty good breakfast at some place (mexican?). Spent that night playing hearts and drinking. wicked. Go to Ikea, have 1 dollar breakfast, head home.
November? December? Work, work, work. The burg is pretty fun, woodstock is ok, sometimes terrible. Stephen and I went to see Wicked in TO. Super Good. Some of you should listen to the soundtrack. I hope they make it into a movie. It would seem to be very translatable (?word) to the screen. Provided of course they have Idina Menzel (Maureen from RENT) and Kristen Chenoweth (SHe was in RV (Trailer Mom), and Running with scissors (Fern)) play the leads.
Sidebar: Kristen Chenoweth is my new favorite person. I just want to keep her in my pocket.
Xmas? The best thing about xmas was the fact that it was my only day off in two weeks. Recieved mainly Kitchen suppplies. new knives (bad luck as gifts?), silpat, coffee grinder. Also, CLub house Games, and FF3 for DS. Both very good ventures. Also from stephen: Drill, Running with scissors (paperback) various choc. and Clerks/clerks 2 combo pack.
New years @ Stepen's sister's in ingersoll. Her recently recived fondue set and drink fountain both in use. Tasty. Consomme fondue a new concept. Also Fondue-ing is probably one of the best party meals in history. the 70s is awesome. Also, i managed not to get extremely and inappropriately drunk as i usually do at new years. Go me!
Not a whole lot else going on.
It snowed here once in November and that's about it. avg. temp. 5-8 degrees. Planing a trip to somewhere all-inclusive-y in March. Anyone else wanna go? Also, Possible road trip home or something this summer. I would really like to go on a vacation with some c-dot'ers. Also, trying to get back to NYC at some point.
I guess that's it. Enquiring minds are satisfied? Non-existant?
whatevs.

Most socially inappropriate phone call of the week:
On the phone: Oddly cheerful woman (OCW)
OCW: Hi, I was wondering if you could tell me what Sennakot is used for? Me: It's a laxative. OCW: Oh, i was hoping it was pain medication. See, my daughter died a few weeks ago and i'm going through her meds to see if there's anything that i can use. Me (flabbergasted): umm....ok. Yeah, it's a laxative. OCW: Ok then, Bye.

| » Alright....lets do this. |
So my last entry was July 17th, a little over 3 months ago. there's been a lot of happenings since then. I should prolly break it down.
Work:
Early in July, my pharmacy manager retires. He's 70 and tottally deserves it. He's not even really retired, he still working 3-4 days a week somewhere else. He mostly retired from Wal-mart due to our new computer system (connexus). our old system was quite esoteric, non-intuitive, and complicated. However once you know it that's it and we had it for a little over 12 years. this new system is slower, reuires a mouse and clicking and such and comlpletey restricts control over what you can/cannot do. it's ok now. the first few weeks were hell everyday, having to tell people a few hours for wait time and still not having it done. haveing the computer drop everyone's drug plan. just terrible. So with Frank being retired and niethre myself nor Anna (other pharmacist) willing to take up the reins of manager, we get a new manager, Ahmad. Ahmad is a fun guy, he also manages the Tillsonburg store (about a 45 minute drive from home). so a whole lot of things start changing minly with regards to scheduling. Also by this time one of our techs is off for the rest of the summer do to surgery. add to that that frank ok'd everyones vacations back in january with sometimes 2 people off at once, makes for a very understaffed pharmacy. But it (connexus) does get better. What does not get better is the sunny disposion of Anna. She's always been a bit of a scary lady but i don't think she deals well with very stressful situations. Whenever we are working together she's kind of ok, except for the constant bitching about how much our store sucks, (to myself, staff and customers), telling people essentialy to go eslewhere if they want stuff done either right or in a timely manner. Whenever i'm not there I get stories from the staff about how she treats them like crap. after a few months it gets kind of rediculous and Ahmad and Mark (store manager) sit down to have a chat with her about her actions at work and she quits on the spot. great. so it's me and Ahmad in woodstock now. by this time I'm also working a shift or 2 in tillsonburg. it nice, quiet, organized, they pay me to drive there. it's a nice place. it just happens to be a longer drive. and this is pretty much where I am with work now. About a year more left on my contract, desperately in need of a new pharmacist. working so that I bearly get any days off (72 hours in one week = too much). other than that just tryng to manage day to day.
Social Life:
Early in June I moved in with stephen into his house. I was leaving my onld apt and couldn't quit find the right place so we decided that I should move in for a while to test things out. It was fine for a while. There were quite a few fights about how I'm a giant slob and he's not, about how I wouldn't call If was getting supper for myself and he didn't need to wait, but I didn't know he was waiting anyways. My one real week (5/6 days?) of vacation we went to TO (wonderland/Playdium) and sudbury (his parents and family and giant nickle). Sudbury is landscape-wise VERY simily to newfoundland. VERY. pretty good times. About halfway through August we decided to call it quits. Why? Well, lets just say we were always probably better as friends than boyfriends. we are still great friends and he's my best friend in london. we went out to dinner/the slots for my birthday (I won $1200!) And we're going to go see wicked in TO this december. As for the single life? I'm not looking for anything serious that's for sure, but there are prospects on the horizon. I think.
Other:
There's only the one other catagory because nothin else really happens to me. My car is fine (Mazda3 - 45,000km). Health wise? I'm doing alright, only thing is i've finally gotten braces. they're not so bad. And it's something i've always wanted to do so it's ok. I have to have them on for a year before I have surgery and then for a year after as well. So one month down 11 to go. I've bought a few video games that i havent even opened yet. Top model is on again (yay!) even though the girl I liked best got kicked of (AJ/Rachel Griffith). Ugly Betty is good and Heroes is Awesome. I have rogers digital cable now with the PVR so everything just tapes off automatically. I havent been out to a movie in about 6 months or so I think.
Right now I'm in clarenville at the 'rents house. Tomorrow I'm coming back out to town and I fly back thursday afternoon. I'm @ geoff/natalie/richards or you can MSN me if you want/don't have my phone #. I need to see everyone!
.exhausted.
And the wedding was nice.

This post goes out to my homeboy Brock (Heretofore regarded as "B-Dog"), who turns out is reading this thing. weird.
Not a whole lot of stuff going on. Finally got the pool open. (Pool Party at my house if you can make it here)
I spend my free time gardening.
What. The. Fuck. Gardening.
I guess I could call it "Landscaping" that sounds more manly. Well, there is a lot of digging involved. And it's really hard word. So much fucking clay. but it's something to do out in the blistering heat so I guess that's okay.
I am considering purchasing a Nintendo DS Lite. However I am confused as to a game purchase to accompany said device.
I may be off to New York again in August. Seeing some more shows, fo sho'. I heard quite a few showtunes lately and I think some of you should listen to a few select songs. Especially From "Avenue Q" It's kinda like sesame street, only with mature themes and gary coleman. With songs like "everyone's a little bit racist" and "the internet is for porn" it's really well written.
Some may want to listen to "What do you do with a B.A. in English?" there's even a song based on the German concept of Schadenfreude.
Fun. I have been BBQing everything in sight.
Lastest Conquest = The Pork Tenderloin (DEELISH)
I can't think of anything else to write.
I think I'll go for a swim.
G'night.

It is currently 27 degrees here in the L-dot.

We have a pool. It is currently in the process of opening/cleaning.
I am digging a hole for a pond. digging is hard. Way better then gymming. hooray for productive exercise.
I am also is the process of getting sunstroke.
It's way better than cold however. I'll take sultry over blustery anyday.
I have to work the next seven days in a row. Then I'm going to Canada's Wonderland! Yay! and then Halifax for the weekend. Gonna hang out wit ma' bro' should be fun.

| » So it's been a while.... |
.....bite me.
I can't believe my last update was in february. I've done quite a bit since then.
Let's recap, shall we?
Vacationed in sunny Margarita Island, Venezuela (Heretoforth reagarded as MI:V). Very nice, relaxing time. Nice resort food was crap but i didn't care because I was drunk. a. lot. Went to the main city one day. It was kinda surreal. TO get to the resort we had to take a bus though a bunch of mud huts and poverty looking kinda places (but everyone looked happy so I was fine with it), but then we went to the city and it was Deeee Luxxxe. The mall was super swank (Gucci, Coach, Diesel, etc) and had a mcdonalds and subway (the sub sauce is ketchup). You could also get pizza with hot dogs on it, I was pumped. I was pretty sure I was the only one who did that. Also went to the casino in Porlamar (capital of MI:V) All exactly the same machines as here except in spanish and you have no idea how much money you happen to be betting. Good Times. Very sad to leave. Much sunnyness. I actually got a tan. And learned to play euchre. Jill, you and eden and a friend need to learn euchre as it is almost (almost) becoming more enjoyable than crib (in my books). It needs 4 people though. Unless you play 2 person euchre, but that's not nearly as fun.
Then.....yadda yadda yadda. There was a slight mutiny at work. Boss was suspended for a while and the other pharmacist (ice queen) refused to come in to work. The mutiny was kinda the result of all the techs hating the Ice Queen (IQ) and to a lesser extent, my boss (boss). so I work 12 hour days every day for a while before I go to MI:V and then leave, not totally sure what the situation will be when I return. Anyways, now I have to work some weekends but I'm okay with that. I have 5 dyas off in a row starting on thursday. yay!
Went to NYC for easter break. I saw quite a few shows. First night saw Sweeny Todd, starring Patti Lupone (the original Evita, and possibly the old lady cat from cats), anyway she llike some broadway super-legend or something. It was cool, and it was the original cast still so if you happen to listen to the sound track; thos are the people I heard. Did the NBC studio tour (saw Horatio Sanz in the NBC lobby, EEEEEE!) somewhat boring. The SNL set is TINY!!!! holy crap it's like tetris in there. And everything is fake. fake fake fake. Any show with hardwood floors? Lineoleum and sharpie. They can't go HDTV yet because people would notice. Saw the producers that night. So fucking funny. Did the empire state, rockerfeller center (Dora the explorer was on when we were there, it seemed really fun) Ate at Olive Garden (yum). Saw Rent. Had the single largest man in all of manhattan sit in front of me. Ran around saturday night seeing if we could scam some tickets to a show last minute and these two "trendy" looking fellows in very slimly cut suits and slighty undone ties come in (we were at avenue Q at this point)
Younger male: "2 tickets to pick up" Ticket Lady " Last Name?" YM: "Lurhman" TL: "ID?" YM: "Oh Id? Baz, they need to See ID" Older male struts over and shows ID
So Baz Lurhman was going to see Avenue Q. (baz lurhman is the producer of Moulin Rouge and Romeo & Juliet, and that sunscreen song guy I think)
Anyways, new york was fun. yay.
Saw INXS last night. I don't know why I go to concerts, I never really seem to get into them. Of course I don't really know a lot of INXS and the sound was HORRIBLE so much echo you couldn't hear anything. Stabilo openend and they were pretty cool. i guess.
And that's all the major events that I can think of in the last 4 months. Now next week I moving in with one of my friends. should be fun. he has a pool and a sauna and a bbq. yay.
work continues to chug along, my boss is retiring in a month and we wont have a manager. he wants me to take up the reigns but I'm not really sure if I want all the added responsibility. hrm. oh well.
I'm going to Halifax in June for a conference. w00t
ANTM is over tomorrow. I hope joanie wins. I Hate danielle and stongly dislike jade. Top chef is also ending. I hope Dave wins. he's sucha spaz.
I can't stand deal or no deal. it's 48 minutes of uncomfortable.
I wasn't even watching American Idol and even I'm pissed that Chris got voted off.
Grey's Anatomy and Desperate Housewives are the only non-reality shows in my life currently.
I don't have a myspace. Anything you put on myspace becomes the property of Microsoft and they can use it without your permission.
I love goat cheese. And Metric. Metric = New Cardigans and that makes me happy.
I thinks thats it.
Seacrest out.

I am gambling my life away.
I think I have a problem. I go to the casino a bit too often. I don't think it's that bad tho. I won $450 on a slot machine in niagra falls.
Went to niagra falls a few weeks ago (see above). Such a tourist-y place. But with fun stuff (unlike PEI). Casino-ing, uber expensive denny's, shopping au Target (Tar-zhay), new shoes (I won the money saying that I needed a new pair of shoes, so I felt karmically obligated to buy them). that's pretty much it. I think I might have seen the falls but It was from my car as I drove past. meh.
Saw Curious George on saturday. Cutest movie ever. Monkey! Yay! I also recieved Furturama vol. 1 for v-day. presently enjoying. new direct to DVD movies or something recently announced on the interweb. I am pleased.
Work is still kinda dumb. I worked 12 hours today with a 32 minute lunch.
Seeing INXS in may. should be fun.
21 days till Margarita. I am tanning it up.
i can't think of anything else tonight. I'm tired.
Also: I know a lot of you that have not done this yet an I am VERY disappointed in you do it now!! http://kevan.org/johari?name=Drodgie
